This article will guide you on how you can send and receive LinkedIn messages within Recruit CRM.

Written by Likhitha Satya Maansi Rudra

Our LinkedIn messages integration, powered by Unipile, helps you manage your LinkedIn conversations seamlessly within Recruit CRM. It provides a complete view of all interactions with candidates and contacts, enabling you to communicate with them directly through LinkedIn without leaving Recruit CRM.

Notes

  • LinkedIn Messages Integration is an Enterprise plan feature which can also be added at an additional cost to the Pro or Business plan subscriptions.

  • The LinkedIn Messages Integration is powered by Uniplie and it is GDPR compliant.

  • The LinkedIn Messages Integration supports the following plans, i.e, LinkedIn Recruiter, Recruiter Lite, Sales Navigator core, business, and career plan.

🎥 Here is a tutorial on how to send and receive LinkedIn messages:

🔗 Connecting your LinkedIn account to Recruit CRM

1. Click on the 'Profile' icon and select the 'LinkedIn Integration' tab.

2. Click on 'Connect'.

3. Enter your LinkedIn account credentials and verify the details.

If you haven’t connected your LinkedIn account through the profile settings, you’ll see a button to connect it under the LinkedIn Messages tab inside any candidate or contact profile.

How to use the Cookie login method to avoid multiple LinkedIn login sessions being detected in the app?

Click here to know more about the multiple LinkedIn login sessions

You can follow the following steps to overcome the LinkedIn multiple sessions login error detected in the app:

1. Under the LinkedIn Integration tab, click on 'Connect'

2. Click on the 'Cookies' tab.

3. Now you need to enter your li_at/li_a value under the Cookies section.

To know these values you need to open your 'Linked Account' on the new tab and right click anywhere on the screen and select 'Inspect'.

Then click on the 'Application Tab ' and expand the 'Cookies' section. Now, click on the LinkedIn URL (www.linkedin.com).

You can use the search bar and find the li_a/li_at value and make sure to copy the 'value'.

Now you need to paste the value under the Cookie section while you are connecting your account and click on 'Login'.

Here is a tutorial on how to log in via the Cookie Method:

🤝 Send and Manage LinkedIn Connection Requests

You can send and manage LinkedIn connection requests directly from Recruit CRM without leaving the platform, helping you keep your sourcing and outreach workflow in one place.

Send a connection request:

  1. Open the candidate or contact profile and navigate to the LinkedIn Messaging tab. You might need to scroll a bit towards the right in the Widgets section at the bottom of the page.

  2. If you are not already connected with the person on LinkedIn, click Send Request.

  3. You'll now be prompted to add a personalized note to your connection request. While this is completely optional, including a brief, relevant message can improve the chances of your connection request being accepted.

Please note: LinkedIn allows a maximum of 200 characters for connection request notes.

Once you're ready, click Send Connection Request to send your connection request.

Once the request is sent, its status will be displayed within the LinkedIn tab.

Withdraw a pending connection request:

If needed, you can withdraw a pending connection request directly from Recruit CRM.

Please note that LinkedIn applies the same restrictions as its native platform. If you withdraw a connection request, you won't be able to resend another request to the same person until the three-week waiting period has passed.

Refresh the connection status:

After sending a request, you can manually refresh the connection status by clicking the Refresh button.

This lets you check whether the recipient has accepted your connection request without waiting for the status to update automatically.

Receive connection notifications:

When your connection request is accepted, you'll receive an in-app notification in Recruit CRM.

📌 Please note: There may be a slight delay before the notification appears. If you'd like to check immediately, simply use the Refresh button to retrieve the latest connection status.

Once your connection request is accepted, you can start messaging the candidate or contact directly from the LinkedIn tab in Recruit CRM.

💬 Start LinkedIn Conversations

Once you're connected with a candidate or contact on LinkedIn, you can start and manage your LinkedIn conversations directly from Recruit CRM. If you have a supported LinkedIn Premium plan, you can also send InMails where applicable

Follow these steps to start the conversation:

1. Navigate to the candidate/contact’s profile >> Click on the LinkedIn tab to start a conversation.

Note: If you have less than 50 API requests, the messages will be fetched directly (if available).

If your API requests are between 51–70, you’ll need to click the "Start Conversation" button to send/view messages.

If you’ve made more than 70 API requests, the "Start Conversation" button will appear along with a warning message: “You’re reaching the daily limit set by LinkedIn for retrieving conversations. Exceeding this limit could risk blocking your LinkedIn account.”

2. Click on the Message button to open the messaging interface.

3. Type your message or insert Message template and optionally insert placeholders for personalization >> Click Send to deliver the message.

4. When a new message is received, a Load New Message button will appear within a minute or two. Click this button to view real-time updates.

5. You can also download the files sent by the candidate/contacts.

👀 View teammates' LinkedIn message history

You can view the message histories of other teammates but cannot send messages on their behalf.

Note: If you are using the Classic/Free LinkedIn account, to view the message histories of other teammates with a specific candidate/contact, you need to be connected with the specific candidate/contact on LinkedIn.

If you are on a LinkedIn Premium plan, you will be able to view the message histories of other teammates regardless of whether you are connected with the candidate/contact.

1. Go to the LinkedIn Messages tab in a candidate/contact’s profile.

2. Use the search bar to select a teammate and view their conversation history.

🔒 Manage who can see your LinkedIn conversations

To help you manage the privacy of your LinkedIn conversations, the “Hide My Messages” option in the LinkedIn Integration settings gives you more control over who can view your LinkedIn conversations. This feature allows you to keep your messages with prospects private from other users in your account, ensuring sensitive communications remain confidential.

Here’s how you can use it:

  1. Click on the Profile icon and select the LinkedIn Integration tab.

  2. In the LinkedIn card, turn the Hide Your Messages toggle on or off based on your preference.

  • Toggle ON 🔐 – You can see both your own LinkedIn messages and those sent by other users to the same prospect. However, your messages will not be visible to other users.

  • Toggle OFF 🔓 – All users can see the complete message history with the prospect, regardless of who sent the messages.

Note

  • The toggle is only visible when the LinkedIn Integration is purchased and your LinkedIn account is connected.

  • The toggle works on a per-user basis, so each user can individually choose to hide or show their own messages at any time from the LinkedIn Integration settings.
