What this feature does and when to use it?
You can use a custom domain or subdomain, such as yourcompany.com or careers.yourcompany.com, for your Recruit Craft Website by adding the DNS records provided by Recruit Craft to your One.com DNS settings.
This article walks you through the complete setup, including:
Generating the required DNS records in Recruit Craft.
Adding the DNS records to your domain's DNS settings in One.com.
Waiting for the DNS changes to propagate.
Returning to Recruit Craft to complete or verify the custom domain setup.
Before you begin
Before you start, make sure you have:
Access to Custom Domain settings in Recruit Craft.
Sign-in access to the One.com account that manages your domain.
The domain or subdomain you want to use for your career page, such as yourcompany.com or careers.yourcompany.com.
📌 Please note: One.com is currently rolling out a new Control Panel design. If the steps below do not match what you see in your account, check One.com's own guide to the new design before continuing.
Generate your DNS records in Recruit Craft
Before making any changes in One.com, first generate the DNS records required by Recruit Craft. These records tell your domain provider where your Recruit Craft career page is hosted.
For a full domain
1. In Recruit Craft, go to Custom Domain from the panel on the left.
2. Under Default Project URL, set a unique name for your project and click Save. For a full domain setup, this name must match the domain you want to connect.
3. Under Custom Domain, enter your domain in both fields to confirm it, then click Connect.
Recruit Craft generates a CNAME record for SSL verification, plus one or more A records with static IP addresses to point your domain to your career page.
For a subdomain
1. In Recruit Craft, go to Custom Domain from the panel on the left.
2. Under Custom Domain, enter your preferred career page subdomain in both fields to confirm it.
3. Click Connect.
Make sure the subdomain you enter matches the name of your Default Project URL in Recruit Craft.
Recruit Craft generates two CNAME records. A CNAME, or Canonical Name, record is a type of DNS record that directs a domain or subdomain to another address.
For each record, Recruit Craft provides a Name and Value. Copy both fields for both records, as you will need to add them separately in One.com.
Record 1: Used to verify your SSL certificate, which helps secure your career page connection.
Record 2: Used to point your subdomain to your Recruit Craft career page.
📌 Please note: Keep your records handy before moving to One.com. You will need to add each one separately.
Add the DNS records in One.com
Once you have your records from Recruit Craft, add them to your domain's DNS settings in One.com. Make sure you use the Name and Value exactly as provided by Recruit Craft. The SSL verification record is always a CNAME. The record that points your domain to your career page is a CNAME for a subdomain, but an A record for a full domain.
For a subdomain, follow these steps for each of your two CNAME records:
1. Log in to the One.com Control Panel.
2. On the Advanced settings tile, select DNS settings.
3. Go to DNS records.
4. Under Create new record, select CNAME.
5. In Hostname, enter the Name provided by Recruit Craft, relative to your domain rather than the full value.
For example, if Recruit Craft provides careers.yourcompany.com as the Name, enter: careers
6. In Is an alias of, enter the Value provided by Recruit Craft.
7. Leave TTL empty to use the default of 3600 seconds, or set a value yourself if Recruit Craft specifies otherwise.
8. Select Create record to save.
📌 Please note: One.com's Hostname field expects only the subdomain part, not your complete domain, for a CNAME record. Enter the part that comes before your domain, rather than pasting the full value Recruit Craft provided.
For a full domain, add the SSL verification record first, then the pointing record:
1. Log in to the One.com Control Panel.
2. On the Advanced settings tile, select DNS settings.
3. Go to DNS records.
4. Under Create new record, select CNAME.
5. In Hostname, enter the Name provided by Recruit Craft for the SSL verification record, relative to your domain.
6. In Is an alias of, enter the Value provided by Recruit Craft.
7. Leave TTL empty, or set a value yourself. Select Create record to save.
8. Under Create new record again, select A.
9. In Hostname, leave it empty to apply the record to your root domain.
10. In IP address, enter the static IP address Recruit Craft provided.
11. Leave TTL empty, or set a value yourself. Select Create record to save.
If Recruit Craft provided a second static IP address, repeat the last four steps to create a second A record with the same, empty Hostname and the second IP address.
📌 Please note: A CNAME record can't be placed at the root of your domain, since it would conflict with other records required there. Recruit Craft avoids this for a full domain by pointing your root domain directly at one or more static IP addresses using A records instead. If Recruit Craft gives you two IP addresses, both A records use the same, empty Hostname — this is a standard DNS pattern called round robin, distributing traffic across more than one IP address serving the same content."
Wait for DNS propagation
After saving both CNAME records, the DNS changes need some time to propagate before your custom domain becomes available.
📌 Please note: Most DNS changes take effect within an hour, but they can take up to 48 hours to fully propagate. If your custom domain does not work immediately, wait for the DNS change to propagate and check again.
Once the records have propagated, return to Recruit Craft and continue or verify your custom domain setup.
Troubleshooting
Problem: Recruit Craft is asking you to add CAA records before you can continue with custom domain setup
Problem: Recruit Craft is asking you to add CAA records before you can continue with custom domain setup
Likely cause: Recruit Craft issues the SSL certificate for your custom domain through AWS Certificate Manager (ACM). If your domain already has a CAA (Certification Authority Authorization) record that does not list Amazon as an allowed certificate authority, ACM cannot issue a certificate for your domain, and Recruit Craft asks you to add one that does before it will let you continue.
What to check: In One.com, go to DNS records and select the CAA tab for your domain. If there are no existing CAA records, you can add one authorizing Amazon directly. If one or more already exist, confirm whether any of them authorize amazon.com, amazontrust.com, awstrust.com, or amazonaws.com.
Resolution: Add a CAA record authorizing Amazon to issue certificates for your domain.
Log in to the One.com Control Panel.
On the Advanced settings tile, select DNS settings.
Go to DNS records, then select the CAA tab.
In Hostname, leave it empty to apply the record to your root domain, or enter the subdomain the certificate covers.
In Value, enter the complete CAA value Recruit Craft gave you, for example 0 issue amazon.com, exactly as given.
Leave TTL empty to use the default of 3600 seconds, or set a value yourself if Recruit Craft specifies otherwise.
Select Create record to save.
📌 Please note:
One.com does not split the CAA value into separate Flags, Tag, and CA domain name fields. Enter the complete value Recruit Craft gave you into the single Value field.
If you already have CAA records for other certificate authorities, add this as an additional record rather than replacing them, unless you specifically want to restrict issuance to Amazon only.
If your certificate had already failed validation once before you added this record, it may not retry automatically. If Recruit Craft still will not proceed after the CAA record has propagated, reach out to Recruit CRM support so the certificate request can be retried.
FAQs
Can I connect my root domain, like yourcompany.com?
Can I connect my root domain, like yourcompany.com?
Yes. Full domain setup uses an A record to point your domain to your career page, and One.com supports A records at the root domain, leave the Hostname field empty.
What if One.com says the hostname is already in use?
What if One.com says the hostname is already in use?
This usually means another DNS record already exists for the same hostname.
Check your existing DNS records and edit or remove the conflicting record before adding the CNAME provided by Recruit Craft.
How long does it take for my custom domain to work?
How long does it take for my custom domain to work?
Most DNS changes take effect within an hour, but allow up to 48 hours for the change to fully propagate.
Conclusion
Adding the DNS records provided by Recruit Craft to your One.com DNS settings connects your custom domain or subdomain to your Recruit Craft career page. A subdomain uses CNAME records throughout; a full domain uses a CNAME for SSL verification plus one or more A records. Once the DNS changes have propagated, return to Recruit Craft to complete or verify the connection.
