What this feature does and when to use it?
This setup lets you use a custom domain or subdomain, such as yourcompany.com or careers.yourcompany.com, for your Recruit Craft Website.
Use this guide when you want to:
Connect a custom domain or subdomain to your Recruit Craft Website.
Generate the required DNS records in Recruit Craft.
Add those records to your IONOS Cloud DNS primary zone.
Complete or verify your custom domain setup in Recruit Craft.
Before you begin
Make sure you have:
Access to Custom Domain settings in Recruit Craft.
An IONOS Cloud account with a primary zone already created for your domain.
Your domain's name servers at your registrar pointed to the four name servers assigned to your IONOS Cloud DNS zone.
Access and manage DNS permissions on your IONOS Cloud account. Contract administrators, owners, and users with this permission can create and manage DNS records.
The domain or subdomain you want to use for your Website, such as yourcompany.com or careers.yourcompany.com.
Generate your DNS records in Recruit Craft
Before adding anything to IONOS, first generate the DNS records required to connect your domain.
For a full domain
1. In Recruit Craft, go to Custom Domain from the panel on the left.
2. Under Default Project URL, set a unique name for your project and click Save. For a full domain setup, this name must match the domain you want to connect.
3. Under Custom Domain, enter your domain in both fields to confirm it, then click Connect.
Recruit Craft generates a CNAME record for SSL verification, plus one or more A records with static IP addresses to point your domain to your career page.
For a subdomain
1. In Recruit Craft, go to Custom Domain from the panel on the left.
2. Under Custom Domain, enter your preferred career page subdomain in both fields to confirm it, then click Connect.
Make sure the subdomain matches the name of your Default Project URL in Recruit Craft.
3. Recruit Craft generates two CNAME records. Copy the Name and Value for both records because you'll need to add each one separately to IONOS.
Record 1: Used to verify your SSL certificate, which helps secure your career page connection.
Record 2: Used to point your subdomain to your Recruit Craft career page.

Add the DNS records in IONOS Cloud DNS
Once you have your records from Recruit Craft, add them to your domain's primary zone in IONOS. The SSL verification record is always a CNAME. The record that points your domain to your career page is a CNAME for a subdomain, but an A record for a full domain.
For a subdomain, repeat the following steps for each of your two CNAME records:
1. In the IONOS Data Center Designer (DCD), go to Menu → Network Services → Cloud DNS → Public zones.
2. Select Primary Zones from the dropdown.
3. Select the zone for your domain, or click Details and Records next to it.
4. Click Create record.
5. In Name, enter the Name provided by Recruit Craft exactly as shown, including the domain.
6. In TTL, enter a value in seconds. 3600 seconds is the IONOS default.
Under Type, select CNAME.
7. In Content, enter the Value provided by Recruit Craft exactly as given.
8. Check the Preview to make sure the record looks correct, then click Save.
📌 Please note: IONOS does not require a trailing period (.) at the end of the Content value for a CNAME record. Enter the value exactly as provided by Recruit Craft.
For a full domain, add the SSL verification record first, then the pointing record:
1. In the IONOS Data Center Designer (DCD), go to Menu → Network Services → Cloud DNS → Public zones.
2. Select Primary Zones from the dropdown.
3. Select the zone for your domain, or click Details and Records next to it.
4. Click Create record.
5. In Name, enter the Name provided by Recruit Craft exactly as shown, including the domain.
6. In TTL, enter a value in seconds. 3600 seconds is the IONOS default.
Under Type, select CNAME.
7. In Content, enter the Value provided by Recruit Craft exactly as given.
8. Check the Preview, then click Save.
9. Click Create record again to add the pointing record.
10. In Name, enter your root domain.
In TTL, enter a value in seconds, or use the 3600 second default.
Under Type, select A.
In Content, enter the static IP address Recruit Craft provided.
11. Check the Preview, then click Save.
If Recruit Craft provided a second static IP address, repeat the last five steps to create a second A record with the same Name and the second IP address.
Wait for DNS propagation
After saving both CNAME records, the DNS changes may take some time to become available.
When your domain's name servers are already pointing to IONOS, record changes are typically available quickly, although the exact timing depends on the TTL configured for the records.
📌 Please note: If you have just pointed your domain's name servers to IONOS for the first time, that initial change can take longer to propagate and may take up to 48 hours in some cases. This is separate from the propagation of the CNAME records.
Once the records have propagated, return to Recruit Craft to continue or verify your custom domain setup.
Troubleshooting

Why this is required: Recruit Craft uses AWS Certificate Manager (ACM) to issue the SSL certificate for your custom domain. A CAA record authorizes Amazon to issue a certificate for your domain.
If Recruit Craft displays CAA records during the custom domain setup, add those records to IONOS and verify them before continuing with the CNAME records.
Resolution:
If Recruit Craft provides a CAA record, add the record to IONOS exactly as shown in the Recruit Craft Custom Domain settings.
In the IONOS Data Center Designer (DCD), go to Menu → Network Services → Cloud DNS → Public zones.
Select Primary Zones from the dropdown.
Select the zone for your domain.
Click Create record.
Under Type, select CAA.
Enter the Name provided by Recruit Craft exactly as shown.
Enter the CAA value provided by Recruit CRM in the corresponding CAA field(s), exactly as shown.
Leave the TTL at its default value unless you have a specific requirement to change it.
Review the record and click Save.
Return to Recruit Craft and select Verify.
Once the CAA record is successfully verified, you can continue with the CNAME record setup.
📌 Please note: If you already have CAA records for other certificate authorities, do not remove them unless you understand the impact. If Recruit Craft provides a specific CAA record, use the values provided by Recruit Craft rather than creating a different one.
