Content Management System (CMS) in Recruit Craft

Learn how to use the Recruit Craft CMS to create, manage, customize, and publish blogs, team profiles, testimonials, and other dynamic website content.

Written by Dia Shukla

What is a CMS and when can you use it?

A CMS (Content Management System) is a tool that helps you create and manage multiple pieces of similar content without building each one as a separate page.

For example, if you want to publish 50 blog posts, you do not need to design 50 individual pages. With a CMS, you design the structure once, add your content, and the website automatically uses that structure for each entry.

Recruit Craft's Content Library is built directly into the Website Builder, allowing you to create, manage, customize, and publish repeatable content without using a separate CMS such as WordPress.

You can use the CMS to create content such as:

  • Blog posts and insights

  • Team member or consultant profiles

  • Client testimonials and case studies

  • Candidate resources and career advice

  • Company news and press updates

The same content can be displayed across different pages of your website through a configurable CMS display section.

📌 Please note: The CMS is available only for Full Website projects. Career-Page-only projects do not have the CMS option.

How to access and use the CMS

The Recruit Craft CMS is organized around four main components:

  1. Collections: Organize similar content into groups, such as Blog Posts or Team Members.

  2. Posts: Individual pieces of content within a collection.

  3. CMS display section: Displays posts from a collection on your website.

  4. Dynamic detail page: Automatically displays the full content of each post.

For example, you can create a Blog Posts collection, add multiple posts to it, and place a CMS section on your homepage to display those posts. Each post can also have its own automatically generated detail page.

Access the CMS

To open the CMS:

  1. Open your Full Website project in Recruit Craft.

  2. In the left sidebar, select Content Library.

Create and manage a collection

A collection is a group of related content.

For example:

  • Blog Posts for articles and insights

  • Team Members for recruiter profiles

  • Testimonials for customer reviews

  • Case Studies for customer success stories

To create a collection:

  1. Open Content Library from the left-side panel once you are inside your project.

  2. Select the option to Create a collection.

  3. Enter a name for the collection.

  4. Save the collection.

Once the collection is created, you can start adding posts to it. Inside the Content Library, you can create and manage collections. Each collection displays its name, item count, and actions such as Rename and Delete.

Please note -

  • Collection names must be unique within a project.

  • A collection that contains posts cannot be deleted until its posts are removed.

  • You can create up to 25 collections in a project.

Create a CMS post

A post is an individual content item within a collection. For example, if you have a Blog Posts collection, each article you create within that collection is treated as a separate post. Each post can have its own content, featured image, writer, publish date, tags, excerpt, and SEO settings.

To create a post:

1. Open the relevant collection

From the Content Library, open the collection where you want to add the content.

For example, open your Blog Posts collection if you want to create a new blog article.

2. Add a new post

Select the option to Create to add a post and open the post editor by entering the relevant Post Title.

3. Add and format your post content

You can create the content manually using the rich text editor or use AI to generate an initial draft.

Recruit Craft provides a rich text editor that lets you create and format your content directly within the post editor.

You can use the editor to add:

  • Headings

  • Paragraphs

  • Bold and other text formatting

  • Bulleted and numbered lists

  • Links

  • Inline images

  • Source/HTML editing

You can either write the post manually or use AI to generate a first draft.

When generating a post with AI, you can provide details such as:

  • Topic or brief

  • Tone

  • Word count

  • Whether to include images

  • Whether to add tags

Based on the information you provide, AI generates a draft and title for your post. You can then review, edit, and format the generated content directly in the post editor before publishing.

This gives you the flexibility to use AI for the initial draft while retaining full control over the final content.

4. Configure the post details

Once you have added the main content, configure the information that will be used when the post is displayed on your website.

Open the post Settings panel from the left side panel to configure details such as:

  • Featured image: Add the image that represents your post on CMS cards and other areas where the post is displayed.

  • Alt text: Add alternative text to describe the featured image.

  • Publish date: Set the date associated with the post.

  • Author Name: Specify the person who wrote the post.

  • Excerpt: Add a short preview of the post that can be displayed on content cards.

  • Tags: Add tags to categorize or describe the post.

If you leave the Excerpt field blank, Recruit Craft automatically uses the beginning of the post body as the excerpt.

If Writer or Tags are left blank, these fields will not be displayed on the content card. You can also control the visibility of the publish date, writer, and tags through the Website Builder settings.

5. Configure SEO settings

Each CMS post has its own SEO configuration, allowing you to configure how that specific post is represented for search engines and shared content. You can access the SEO Settings by clicking on the 3 dots under the Action panel.

You can configure the following SEO fields:

  • Route/URL: Set the URL route for the post.

  • Page title: Define the title used for the page.

  • Page description: Add a description for the post.

  • Metadata: Configure additional metadata for the page.

  • Thumbnail: Set the image used for the page's SEO/social representation.

Because these settings are available at the individual post level, you can configure SEO information separately for each piece of CMS content.

6. Save or publish the post

Once you have completed the content, post details, and SEO settings, you can save the post as a Draft or Publish it.

You can publish a post in either of the following ways:

  • While creating or editing the post: Click the Publish button at the top of the post editor to publish it directly.

  • From the collection: Locate the post in the collection and select Publish from its Actions panel.

The post can have one of the following statuses:

  • Draft: Keeps the post in the CMS without displaying it on the live website.

  • Published: Makes the post eligible to appear on your live website when the relevant CMS section is mapped to the collection.

📌 Please note: A post title is required before you can save or publish the post.

Manage posts in a collection

Each collection has a dedicated post list where you can view and manage all the content within it. The list displays the post name, publish date, and status, with posts marked as either Draft or Published. You can also search by post name and filter posts by publish date or status to quickly find the content you need.

Actions available for individual posts

From the Actions menu for a post, you can publish, move a published post back to Draft by unpublishing it, pin or unpin it, rename the title, manage the SEO Settings or delete it. Pinning a post keeps it at the top of both the collection's post list and the live CMS card order, regardless of its publish date. By default, pinned posts appear first, followed by the newest posts based on publish date. Deleting a post is permanent and requires confirmation.

Bulk actions

When you need to manage multiple posts at once, select the relevant posts and use bulk actions to Publish, Unpublish and move them to Draft, or delete them.

Add CMS content to your website

Once you have created posts, you can display them on your website using the Blog section. The Blog section is a draggable section that connects to a CMS collection and displays its posts as cards.

To add a Blog section:

1. Open the page where you want to display the content.

2. Add the Blog section to the page.

3. From the settings on the right, select the collection you want to display.

4. Configure the card layout and design.

Click here to learn more about customizing Blog cards and layout

The Blog section uses a shared card design for all posts in the selected collection. Cards can display the featured image, title, excerpt, writer, publish date, and tags.

You can control the visibility of available metadata and customize the elements displayed on the card. Any styling changes made to one card are applied across all posts in the collection, while the content remains unique to each post.

Use the Blog Layout settings to control how the cards are arranged and displayed. You can configure the number of cards displayed per row and the number of posts shown at a time. The layout also adapts to mobile and tablet screens.

You can display up to 10 posts at a time.

5. Configure Pagination based on how you want to display your posts.

Click here to learn more about using the Blog section as a teaser

To display a limited number of posts, such as the latest articles on your homepage, turn Pagination off. This displays a finite set of cards and allows you to direct visitors to a separate page containing the complete collection.

To create a teaser:

  1. Turn Pagination off from the Blog Layout settings.

  2. Configure the number of cards you want to display.

  3. Add a Read More button.

  4. Link the button to your full blog page.

When a visitor selects a post from a CMS card, the Read More link automatically takes them to that post's dynamic detail page. The link is generated using the post's slug, so you do not need to manually create a separate link for each post.

📌 Please note: The Read More button must be linked before the section can be saved or published.

Click here to learn more about creating a full blog using pagination

To create a complete blog listing page, turn Pagination on. Posts are displayed across numbered pages, with up to 10 posts per page.

To create a full blog:

  1. Turn Pagination on.

  2. Set the number of posts to display per page.

  3. Customize the surrounding sections of the page as required.

  4. Save and publish the page.

The Blog section itself becomes the full blog listing, so you do not need to create a separate page specifically for pagination. Each numbered page is individually reachable.

📌 Please note: Recruit Craft does not provide a predefined full blog page. You create the page yourself by adding a Blog section, enabling pagination, and customizing the surrounding sections.

6. Save your changes.

Before a collection is connected, the Blog section displays sample cards so you can preview the layout. Once you select a collection, its posts are used to populate the cards. An unmapped Blog section cannot be published to the live website.

Automatic detail pages for CMS posts

When you add the first post to a collection, Recruit Craft automatically creates a dynamic detail page for that collection. The page is named after the collection and is used to display the full content of each post.

Publish CMS content

CMS publishing works independently from publishing the entire website.

If your website is already published

When you publish a CMS post, the post automatically becomes available on the live website, provided the CMS section is mapped to its collection.

You do not need to republish the entire website every time you publish a post.

If your website has not been published

The post can have a Published status, but it will not appear on the live website until the website itself is published.

Draft posts

Only posts with a Published status appear on the live website.

Draft posts remain available in the editor and preview but are not displayed to visitors.

Collection with no published posts

If a CMS section is mapped to a collection that does not contain any published posts, the CMS content does not appear on the main website.
