Contact Stage (Sales Pipeline) (New UI)

Helps you understand the progress of the client relationship

Written by Dia Shukla

What this feature does and when to use it?

The Contact Stage indicates where a contact (client) is in your sales or marketing funnel. Updating the contact stage helps your team track client relationships, monitor progress through the sales funnel, and maintain a complete history of stage changes.

This feature is useful when you want to:

  • Track a contact's progress through your sales pipeline.

  • Update the stage of one or multiple contacts.

  • Record the reason for a stage change.

  • View the complete history of stage updates for a contact.

Update a contact's stage

You can update a contact's stage either from the Contact List Page or directly from the Contact Details Page.

From the Contact List Page:

  1. Navigate to Contacts and select one or more contacts, and click Update Field.

  2. Select Stage from the dropdown menu and choose the appropriate Contact Stage.

  3. Enter a reason for the stage change and click Submit to save your changes.

  4. You can also update an individual contact's stage directly from the Stage column on the Contact List page.

From the Contact Profile/Details Page:

  1. Open the required contact's profile.

  2. Click the current Contact Stage displayed beside the contact's name.

  3. Select the required stage from the dropdown, enter a reason for the change, and save your update.

To view the history of stage updates, click the Remarks icon next to the contact stage on the contact profile.

Please note: A red dot appears when there's a remark added for the contact's current contact stage.

The stage history displays every stage the contact has gone through, along with the remarks entered during each update, the date of the change, and the user who made it.

FAQs

1. Can I see who changed a contact's stage?

Yes. The Stage History displays the user who updated the stage, the date of the change, and any remarks provided.

2. Is adding a reason when changing a stage mandatory?

No, adding a reason isn't mandatory. However, it's considered a best practice as it provides additional context for the stage change and makes it easier for your team to understand the contact's progress when reviewing the stage history.

Conclusion:

Keeping your Contact Stages up to date helps your team accurately track client relationships throughout the sales pipeline. With bulk updates, individual stage management, and a complete stage history, Recruit CRM makes it easy to monitor every interaction.
